As Meg, the heiress who dreams of a life in the theatre

This summer, I got to take a working vacation in New Hampshire once again at the Barnstormers Theatre, this time doing Leading Ladies by Ken Ludwig. He also wrote Lend Me a Tenor, and boy does that man know how to write a funny play! The audience was guffawing; actors were laughing backstage – and trying not to crack up on stage…. My castmates and director found funny bits that weren’t even in the script, and I got to join them on the ride every night.

We had some adventures during rehearsal too. One day, one of the locals tried to make her stage appearance by riding in on one the actor’s heads. After some very calm, but tense moments where the actor froze and said “What is it? Where is it? Get it off!” (Kudos, Michael for maintaining your cool!), we rescued this very large caterpillar. It might be a Large Tolype caterpillar which, if I’m right, will turn into a pretty spectacular moth!

This funny play is set in the late 70’s, complete with bell-bottoms and Farrah Fawcett hair. One night my castmates and I took advantage of our costumes….

And earlier this season, we had the audience booing and cheering in the melodrama Gold in the Hills. I was the damsel-in-distress…and I couldn’t pay the rent!
